Drive-by yarn porn

I might be at my mother’s house for a few days, which means leaving the laptop here with Matt and accessing the outside world via dial up– oh joy. I will keep up with my NaBloPoMo pledge though but I’m not promising pictures. There’s something deeply disturbing about my step-father’s computer (oh yeah, it’s Win 98 too) so my willingness to even bother with it shows the dedication and depth of my solumn “Blog or die” pledge.

Shetland YarnIn light of all this; I stayed focused and was a little extra diligent last night. I managed to get the first skein of Shetland laceweight done. It’s 530 yards, and I have not weighed it or measured the wpi (wraps per inch) yet. I am not one of those people that can give an accurate eyeball estimate of wpi unless dealing with bulky yarns, but this is pretty fine stuff and definitely belongs in the lace weight catagory, although not nearly as fine as the one ounce of Optim I spun a few years ago that nearly killed me (just joking, I was just a little catatonic, nothing serious.)

The yarn seriously pleases me. There are yarns that I like, and yarns that I can’t believe that I made. This is one of those that I’m just left sitting on my heels saying “Wow, I can’t believe I made this.”

I’m taking my Bloodwood Butterfly (eh-hem plug-plug-plugity-plug) and some fluff to spin when I’m not needed, I hope you understand if I don’t get a whole lot of spinning done given the situation. I’ll also be taking my Brooke’s Column of Leaves scarf to work on during the drive.

Deus te amat.

  1. Using someone else’s computer to blog is sort of like using their toothbrush.

I’m stopping by as a member of NaBloPoMo. I have 10 blogs, but this is the only one that sees much action, Collecting my thoughts. Keeping writing! And stop by when you get the chance.

  2. Gorgeous yarn. I’ll miss you!
