Good source of blogging inspiration

top search termsI logged into my awstats and found the best source of blogging inspiration ever, the search terms people used to find my site. The top search terms are what one might expect.

But full disclosure is so sweet– so lets take a look at some of the other interesting things people are searching for when they say “Hmm. Yarnporn.com I think I’ll click this one.”

awstats search phrases I’m especially fond of “knitting grandma porn” and “punk toilet paper cover” both of those phrases evoke such imagery don’t they? Can’t you just see grandma sitting there knitting something unmentionable with bright pink yarn chuckling to herself “This will teach them to call me an old fogey.

The punk toilet paper cover is a little less mindbending of course, probably something round and mildly offensive, I think I would do several as an homage to my favorite bands and cycle through them– there would be Black Flag for the intarsia newbies, Sex Pistols for duplicate stitchers, Ramones for the entrelac (because I said so, that’s why) and Siouxy and the Banshees for lace knitters (again, because I said so– it makes sense in my universe.)

I’m sorry I’m just not that kind of blogger.

Spinning yarn on a sewing machine? (Actually this can be done, but it’s not very efficient or very good for your sewing machine.)

Wild handspun yarns– I like that one, sounds like undomesticated skeins of yarn running free across the prairies and plains. The Wild Handspun, a symbol of unfettered spirit and strength. Unfortunately the North American wild handspun has been hunted to near extinction and it’s territory encroached upon and over grazed by domesticated flocks of nogahs and acryliques. It’s up each one of us to speak out in defense of the North American Wild Handspun, to write our congressmen and women and let them know we care about all of America’s native species of yarn.

  1. The Wild Handspun sounds like a made for TV western movie. Hee! And it’s Siouxie and the Banshees.. and of course she’d be lace. Of course.
