In the mood for flowers

Actually I’m in the mood for fruit and flowers. Thank goodness that a cake doesn’t have to be pretty in order to taste good, because yesterdays’ upside down cake was one of the most hideous looking cakes I’ve ever made– but it was definitely a big hit.

needle felted cushion top This pin cushion top turned out to be a much more attractive (although probably not very tasty) project. I was trying to imitate some vintage embroidered flowers without actually bringing out any for reference.

Now I need to figure out if I’m going to mount it on top of a jar or sew a bottom for it. It’s just a little too large to snug into the top of a tea cup (of course there is always the possibility of finding a larger tea cup.

lemon butter cookiesToday I went a little more basic with the baking and made lemon daffodils.

Don’t laugh. I know flowers well enough to know they don’t look like daffodils, it’s just what the recipe is called and I thought it would be more fun to use the daisy shape in the cookie press than the lozenge shape.
