Cotton yarn, again

I’ve come to the conclusion that cotton fibers are smarter than I am.

I know that I’m spinning a fine yarn and it does take longer to spin fine yarns than fat yarns. On the logic level I’m covered. It will take longer to spin this yarn than it would to spin yarn out of wool or alpaca.
cotton yarn on the bobbinSee the picture? See that yarn? Go back a few posts, look at the other picture. I’m on the same darned bobbin.

Whatever fantasies I may have entertained about spinning up all 8 ounces of cotton in one shot are totally shattered. I may not even make it through this bobbin before I take it off the wheel and spin something else. I’ve tried to convince myself that it’s worth it, it’s worth all the time and effort so that I can ply it and boil it and watch it turn a pretty sage color.

  1. persevere and fill up that bobbin. just think of the satisfaction you’ll feel when you’re done! no pain, no gain and all that. ;-)

  2. As my mother always says, “Let it be a challenge to you.”
